AS I SEE IT - ART EXHIBITION

'As I See It' solo exhibition of paintings by British artist Juliet Lawson walks you through the past ten years of her artistic life with a special focus on COVID art.

Many of you will have seen the signs around the building about the art exhibition that we held here in October. Please read more about it below:

Those who know Juliet will know her as a Singer-Songwriter who's been performing continuously since before the release of her first album BOO in 1972...but not everyone is aware that she also has a parallel career as a painter, dating back to her training at Wimbledon College of Art in the late 60s, followed by a stint at set design for the Royal Court Theatre.

Over the years, she's had the pleasure of seeing several of her works finding their way into private collections, both here and abroad.

Spurred on by the shameful collapse of Musicians' royalties, coupled with the bonus of Lockdown being such a fecund time for creatives, Juliet had a wealth of delights and surprises to put on a show during the last fortnight of October, appropriately displayed in London's creative hub of Clerkenwell.

Juliet's sizeable exhibition was on display on the 3rd floor, and you can view her work on her website here.

Small Businesses in Clerkenwell and Bunhill - we want to hear from YOU!

Your local economy officers from Islington Council, along with Councillors Matt Nathan (Clerkenwell) and Cllr. Phil Graham (Bunhill) are hosting the first Finsbury Small Business Forum to hear from local businesses. We want to hear about your challenges, issues, and any good news stories you would like to share. It is a great chance for you to meet other local businesses, build your network, and learn more about what the Council can do for you.

4th November, 2021 - 8:30am-9:30am

It’s a digital event, so the link will go out a few days in advance. To RSVP please email interest to Imogen.Tyndale@Islington.gov.uk

Christmas fair?
Oh no, it’s Christmas again.

Do any of you arty or crafty types out there want to participate in our world famous Christmas fair? Usually, by this stage in the newsletter you are all completely zoned out and won’t care what I am saying, but if any of you wanted to have a stall at our annual Christmas fare/mince pie/mulled wine fiesta, then please let Ian know.

Slack Channel / Scope

You are all invited to join a brand new Slack channel, where we will be putting out all announcements, events and taking your daily orders for the FBC café. Do make sure you join, so you don’t miss out on any important announcements about the building or your office.

This Slack channel will be branded as ‘Scope’. We are working alongside our partners at Scope to create this Slack community. Scope will be taking care of marketing and sales here at FBC, so you may see their presence across some of our new content, newsletters, blogs and branding.

They run a fantastic coworking space in King’s Cross and understand how to develop a great coworking brand. If you have any questions about our partnership and how it will change life at FBC, don’t hesitate to get in touch with Hugh or Ian.

We hope you find the Slack channel useful and informative.
